Niels Larsen recognise that as a major consumer of timber products, we have an obligation to ensure that our supply chain practise sustainable forestry.
Sustainable forestry means managing forests to meet the needs
of the present without compromising the ability of future
generations to meet their own needs. This is achieved by
practising a land stewardship ethic that integrates the reforestation,
managing, growing, nurturing and harvesting of trees for
our products with the conservation of soil, air, water quality
and wildlife habitat.
We insist that our major timber suppliers are members of the
Timber Trade Federation and are signatories of the Forests
Forever sustainable purchasing policy. We agree that independent
certification is the most effective manner in which to assure
that sustainable practices are carried out throughout our
supply chain. We therefore work continually with our suppliers
to minimise our impact on the environment and where possible
we advocate the use of certified timber.
